On Thursday 25th October John will be setting off from Morecambe to travel 170 miles to Bridlington on the Coast to Coast Way of the Roses route on off road roller ski's. Skike's were invented in Austria as a means to cross country ski without snow and are used by Olympic athletes to train during the summer months. Although a relatively new sport to the UK John from Skike Sports North Ltd is slowly building up a band of enthusiasts who set themselves ever more challenging routes, taking on terrain normally frequented by mountain bikers.

Watch the video below to see John in action.
The Way of the Roses routes takes you thorough some stunning countryside taking in the City's of Lancaster and York to country villages Settle, Patley Bridge and Ripon. Supported by his wife Kathryn in a Landrover with roof tent John hopes to complete the 170 miles in 4 days. Lots of friends have offered support along the way who will cycle , run or walk along side John as he try to cover at least 40 miles a day.
John is asking for sponsorship for this challenger to raise money for our charity MaaChild a charity both John and Kathryn have been involved in for a couple of years. Kathryn climbed Mt Kenya raising over £1000 and Johns company Slate Age recently donates a water tank to a health centre out in Kenya. We are hoping to top £1000 this would enable MaaChild to support one Maasai Child through Secondary School.
